Halloween skeleton makeup

With halloween just around the corner I thought I’d dig out some photos of my halloween costume from last year. Ignore the different hair, I’d died it darker for travelling.

I decided to just do makeup as my costume as I had to go to a party pretty soon after work. I wanted to be a skeleton so wore a black dress and made up my face and chest to look like bones and a skull. I was so pleased with how it turned out. Can you believe I did this with just normal makeup, no face paint? I used black eyeshadow (which if you add water to becomes just like face paint) white eyeshadow and black eyeliner both liquid and pencil.

This was my inspiration image:

And this was my version. I simplified the makeup on the chest and neck but went all out on the skull face! To be honest I think I did a pretty good job.

It’s a weird feeling tracing around your facial bones to get the proportions of the eye sockets and nose right, but I suppose in a way it also makes it easier to look like a real skull.

Here’s the obligatory blurry couple at a party photo…

And here’s a slightly better one. Yes Tom’s wearing eyeliner, he went as a witch. As I said these were very last minute, quick to put together costumes.
